Redefining Destination Retail for a Discerning Customer
Spanning 22,000 square feet, Tessuti’s flagship store draws on historic Liverpudlian architecture, classic Italian style, and cutting-edge digital moments to set a new benchmark for destination retail. Located in the landmark Liverpool ONE centre, the store repositions Tessuti as the authority in premium style, showcasing timeless staples alongside the latest directional trends.
Designing for Self-Expression and Future Flexibility
With a 37-year legacy of curating premium designer brands, Tessuti’s DNA is rooted in self-expression, aspiration, and global fashion culture. Our challenge was to translate these values into an adaptive retail environment that could easily support brand launches, pop-ups, and digital activations, creating a flexible, dynamic platform built for the future.
A Site-Specific Response Informed by Local Heritage
Rather than rely on clichés, we took cues from Liverpool’s industrial past, specifically the Liverpool Overhead Railway (LOR), known as the ‘Dockers Umbrella’. Its distinctive arched forms inspired the architectural motif used throughout the store. At street level, three large digital arches continue this theme and connect the two-storey façade, creating visual rhythm and brand presence. This motif also appears in subtle wayfinding gestures, guiding customers to fitting rooms and featured brands.
Monumental Form and Digital Theatre in the Central Atrium
At the heart of the store, a large stainless steel lozenge structure punctuated by arches mirrors the LOR’s scale and serves as a visual anchor. Overhead, an XL digital screen floats above the escalator void, acting as a digital sky.

Immersive Zones That Blend Product, Content, and Experience
The store spans three levels; two trading floors and a stockroom level. The ground floor focuses on core apparel from Stone Island, Versace, A.P.C. and more. Six large digital columns create ‘heat zones’ or platforms for immersive storytelling and product display. A stainless steel cash desk and flexible pop-up zone allow for campaign-led merchandising and community activations.
Footwear, Accessories, and Elevated Aftercare
The upper floor houses Footwear, Accessories, and dedicated brand zones with flexible storytelling spaces. A Sneakers ER station offers on-site repairs for luxury sneakers and bags, reinforcing the premium nature of the retail experience. A gloss-black Piaggio APE van, reimagined as a fragrance bar, adds a moment of personality and play.

Throughout the space, Terrazzo, Brass, and Marble reference classic Italian luxury, offset by contemporary interventions such as brushed steel, digital displays, and neon accents. Rough stucco textures on the walls contrast with minimal furniture, creating a tactile and expressive material palette that reflects both Tessuti’s heritage and its modern ambitions.
